How Resveratrol For Cancer Can Bring You More Benefits Than You Thought Possible

Resveratrol for cancer is something which the scientific community is showing an ever greater interest in. Over the years, there have been so many old wives' tales and rumors about substances, which may or may not have a beneficial effect on various degenerative diseases. Science has largely been disinterested in these, as there was never any evidence to back up the claims of the people making the assertions. In the case of resveratrol, the opposite is true. Both long-term tests on animals, and short-term tests on human beings, have suggested that resveratrol does have genuine benefits to health.

Studies performed at Rochester have shown clear indications that resveratrol is effective in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. It happens because the resveratrol reaches the primary energy source of the cancerous cell and completely disables it. When the cell is irradiated at the same time as being treated with resveratrol, the effect is reinforced and the cell dies far more quickly. This research is an important breakthrough in cancer therapy, because it achieves the ultimate goal. It renders the cancerous cell completely inactive, and it does so without inducing any side effects.

The merits, or otherwise, of resveratrol have been debated for some time now. The possibilities of this supplement first came to light when experiments were carried out on animals with an extremely short lifespan. These experiments may have little value in actually proving what the same substances will do to the human body, but they can bring highly suggestive results in a relatively short space of time. The tests on resveratrol shows that these laboratory animals had their life expectancy increased.

There were other interesting side benefits suggested as well. In the tests on animals, the results showed that insulin levels were beneficially affected. However, the same experiments also showed no change in cholesterol levels. These results are contrary to the results obtained from short term tests carried out on human beings, which suggest a double faceted benefit to the intake of resveratrol. The low density lipoprotein which has been identified as a major risk factor in any degenerative disease relating to the heart, was reduced, while the high density lipoprotein levels were increased.

There is ample evidence to suggest that taking resveratrol for cancer can not only be effective in its primary purpose, but it can also deliver other benefits to the human body. It will be necessary for proper full-length scientific tests to be carried out in order to determine exactly what the benefits will be. One thing is for certain, however, and that is that resveratrol is showing extreme promise at this early stage. It can be taken as a supplement, or it can be obtained by eating or drinking products which naturally contain it. These include red wine, and dark red and purple grapes. There seem to be no side effects from taking resveratrol for cancer.
